Vice President Quality and Population Health – Virginia

Sentara Health Plans, in partnership with The French Group, seeks an exceptional leader in QI/Value-Based Care/Population Health to serve in the critical, highly visible role of VP Quality and Population Health. Headquartered in Virginia Beach, VA, Sentara Health Plans is the health insurance division of Sentara Healthcare, offering health plans through its subsidiaries, Optima Health and Virginia Premier. Collectively, Optima Health and Virginia Premier provide health insurance coverage to over 900,000 members through a full suite of commercial products including consumer-driven, employee-owned and employer-sponsored plans, individual and family health plans, employee assistance plans and plans serving Medicare and Medicaid enrollees.

The Vice President, Quality and Population Health provides the strategic vision and leadership to drive innovative quality, performance improvement, and population health initiatives across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer for Sentara Health Plans, this VP serves as a key member of the health plan leadership team. The VP provides the strategic direction and operational oversight for the Quality Improvement, Accreditation and Population Health Departments for the health plans.

This is a highly collaborative and strategic role requiring substantial experience leading high-performing Quality and Population Health teams and requires extensive technical knowledge of Quality, HEDIS, Reporting, and Value-Based Care.

A minimum of 10 years of progressive health plan leadership experience required, including experience with Medicaid, Medicare and commercial products.

Minimum qualifications for non-clinicians include Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Health Administration, Public Health or Business Administration. For Physician candidates, M.D. or D.O. required; Board Certification strongly preferred. For Nurse candidates, R.N. with Master’s degree preferred.
