REGIONAL MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Job Summary
The Regional Medical Director is responsible for establishing strong collegial relationships with physicians in each of her/his markets. Utilizing these relationships as well as available data, the RMD works to positively impact the quality and efficiency of the care received by members in each of these markets. RMD serves as the main liaison between the health plan and the provider community for all clinical issues

Essential Job Functions
Manages the clinical relationships with physicians.
Develops and executes market specific cost improvement initiatives.
Drives improvement in quality indicators in each market.
Supervises Market Medical Directors and oversees Lead Physician Program.
Participates in and Chairs Appeal Committee as needed.
Actively participates in physician committees.
Provides coverage for utilization review decisions as needed.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Education, Experience Skills
M.D. or D.O. with active unrestricted medical license with ability to obtain medical license in states assigned required.
Board Certified by ABMS recognized medical specialty organization required.
Ten years of clinical practice experience required with three or more years experience as a physician executive managing physician relationships or working at least part time on utilization management required.
